Before stepping into journalism full time, Althia worked at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Canada. She also did an internship at the Canadian Mission to the United Nations in New York City. These early experiences gave her a strong understanding of politics and international affairs.

She then moved into broadcasting and worked as a producer for CTV, one of Canada’s biggest television networks. She also worked as a producer for CBC Radio’s weekly national political magazine called The House. This was where she first got a real taste of political storytelling.

She also worked as a national political reporter for Postmedia News, one of Canada’s largest news organisations. This period helped her build a sharp eye for political stories and strong contacts across the political spectrum.

HuffPost Canada Ottawa Bureau Chief (2011 to 2021)
