Cam Woolley is a Canadian broadcast journalist and retired police officer. He is best known as the longtime traffic and safety reporter for CP24 in Toronto.

Woolley was born on January 24, 1957 (69 years old) Before television, he spent 30 years with the Ontario Provincial Police, retiring as a sergeant.

He became a familiar face on CP24 Breakfast, where his traffic updates, wit, and Friday dance moves made him a viewer favourite for 13 years.

Woolley was also an expert judge on the Discovery Channel series Canada’s Worst Driver. During his police career, he was named OPP Officer of the Year in 2005.

Cam Woolley built two full careers, first as a police officer and then as a trusted broadcast voice on Toronto traffic and safety.

1978 to 2008: Ontario Provincial Police

Woolley served 30 years with the Ontario Provincial Police, retiring as a sergeant in the Highway Safety Division in September 2008.

During his OPP years, he specialized in traffic crime and collision investigation. He was the lead investigator on several high-profile fatal collisions across the Greater Toronto Area.

He became the public face of the OPP as media coordinator for the Toronto area highway safety division, appearing regularly in the news from 2000 onward.

2005: OPP Officer of the Year

In 2005, Woolley was named OPP Officer of the Year, a career highlight that recognized his service and public safety work.

2006 to 2018: Canada’s Worst Driver

Woolley joined the Discovery Channel Canada reality series Canada’s Worst Driver as an expert judge in its second season. He became the show’s longest-serving expert, appearing in every season except the first.

On August 23, 2008, CTVglobemedia announced that Woolley would retire from the OPP and immediately begin a broadcasting career at CP24, reporting on traffic and safety.

He was part of the original cast when CP24 Breakfast launched in March 2009. Early colleagues included news anchor Ann Rohmer, co-hosts Melissa Grelo and Matte Babel, weather specialist Nalini Sharma, and traffic team members Steve Anthony and Mika Midolo.

Over the years, he shared the morning desk with hosts Gurdeep Ahluwalia, Pooja Handa, and George Lagogianes, meteorologist Bill Coulter, and reporter Jamie Gutfreund.

Woolley hosted recurring segments, including Safety First with Cam Woolley and Know Your Rights.

He also covered breaking stories from shootings and collisions to City Hall and the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021: Retirement from CP24

Woolley announced his retirement in March 2021 and signed off for the last time on April 15, 2021, after 13 years on the morning show.

On his final day, Toronto Mayor John Tory presented him with a plaque from the city, praising him as an authentic and informed broadcaster.

2022: Safety Ambassador at Diamond and Diamond

After leaving broadcasting, Woolley was hired as Safety Ambassador for the law firm Diamond and Diamond.

In the role, he shares road safety tips and appears in the firm’s media content, including its Cars and Courts series.

Side venture: Movie vehicles

Woolley also co-owns a company with his friend Bradley Patterson, an actor and firefighter, that supplies emergency and military vehicles for film shoots.
