Carole Malone Career

Carole Malone Career

Carole Malone built her name first in print journalism, then became a familiar TV and radio voice for opinion and current affairs.

Early career in newspapers

Malone’s career began in journalism before she moved into broadcasting. Public bios do not always list her first local newsroom roles, but they do consistently describe a long stretch in national tabloid work.

A key part of her print career was her time at the Sunday Mirror, where she is widely reported to have worked for about 10 years. After that, she wrote for the News of the World and stayed there until the paper closed in July 2011.

She has also been linked with a weekly column in the Daily Express in more recent years, alongside her broadcasting appearances.

Moving into broadcasting and presenting

By the late 1990s, Malone had started taking on bigger TV roles. From 1997-1999, she presented the Sky One show Guilty!, a light entertainment format set in a mock courtroom.

Her TV profile grew further through daytime and talk formats. She appeared on Loose Women as a panellist and guest, and later returned as a guest anchor at times.

She also became a regular face on discussion-based shows, including The Wright Stuff (as a regular panellist during the late 2000s), plus regular newspaper review segments on This Morning starting in 2009.

She also appeared in reality TV as a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother in January 2007, which broadened her mainstream visibility beyond news and talk shows.

Sky News and national debate shows

From 2017-2021, Malone appeared weekly on Sky News’ panel programme The Pledge. The show format had panellists raising topics and debating without a single host, which suited her as a regular commentator.

Around the same time, she kept a steady presence across UK discussion TV, including regular slots on shows that mix news, phone-ins, and studio debate.

Present-day work: GB News and regular weekly TV slots

Since 2021, Malone has appeared regularly on GB News, and GB News also describes her as writing a weekly column for them.

She is also listed as having a weekly slot on Jeremy Vine (commonly referenced as a Wednesday appearance).

Alongside that, she continues her print column work, including being described in public profiles as a Daily Express columnist.
