Ji Chang-wook began his acting work in musical theatre. He made his screen debut in 2006 with the short film Days…. He later appeared in the TV drama You Stole My Heart (2008) and made his film debut in Sleeping Beauty (2008).
In 2009, he appeared in the family drama My Too Perfect Sons and also acted in Hero.
His first lead TV role came with Smile Again (2010 to 2011). In that series, he worked with Do Ji-won, Oh Ji-eun, Park Jung-ah, and Lee Jang-woo.
He then took a lead role in Warrior Baek Dong-soo (2011), alongside Yoo Seung-ho, Yoon So-yi, Shin Hyun-been, Choi Min-soo, and Jun Kwang-ryul.
