SunRisers Hyderabad won against Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs in the second Qualifier match of IPL 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday.
This win means SRH will play against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final match at the same place on May 26. In Friday’s game, Trent Boult and Avesh Khan from SRH got three wickets each, but SRH still scored 175 for 9 in 20 overs.
Sandeep Sharma also got two wickets. SRH batted first after Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl.
Heinrich Klaasen was the top scorer for SRH with 50 runs in 34 balls, while Travis Head and Rahul Tripathi also contributed but couldn’t stay for long.
Rajasthan Royals managed to score only 139 for 7 in 20 overs, mainly due to Shahbaz Ahmed’s 3 wickets for 23 runs.
The owner of SRH, Kavya Maran, was very happy as her team made it to the IPL final after 6 years. She was seen hugging her father, Kalanithi Maran, after the victory over RR in the Qualifier 2 game.
Shahbaz Ahmed, who was named the Player of the Match, said, “The captain and coach told me that depending on the situation, they would use me. My job was to bat later in the order, and they said if our top order fails, they will send me in.” Shahbaz was brought in as an Impact Player after SRH lost six wickets.
“When I was batting, I felt that the pitch was tricky, and the way Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma bowled confirmed that. I’m proud to be the Man of the Match in such a crucial game. The atmosphere in the team is relaxed. We will celebrate only after winning the final. Tonight, we will just relax,” he added.
