The red light blinked on, and a calm voice filled living rooms across Britain.

That voice belonged to Alastair Stewart, born on June 22, 1952 (73 years old) in Emsworth, Hampshire.

Over decades, he became a familiar face on ITV News, the steady anchor viewers trusted night after night. In 2010, he stepped into a historic moment, moderating the first UK leaders’ TV debate and guiding the nation through a new kind of broadcast politics.

Later, he moved to GB News to front Alastair Stewart & Friends, then stepped back from regular broadcasting in March 2023 after a long run at the desk he made his own.
