2006: Joins Sportsnet 590 The FAN

In February 2006, Alex began his radio career at Sportsnet 590 The FAN (CJCL-AM) in Toronto. This was his first full-time role in sports broadcasting.

2007 to 2012: Major event coverage

2022 to 2023: Health break and return

In August 2022, Alex stepped away from the airwaves after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. 

He underwent surgery in Oakville and chemotherapy at Hamilton Health Sciences Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre under oncologist Dr. Sebastien Hotte.

2025: Moves to afternoon co-anchor on 680 NewsRadio

On January 3, 2025, Alex announced his last sports shift on 680 NewsRadio after nearly 20 years in sports.

Later that month, Broadcast Dialogue confirmed that Alex had moved from sports anchor to afternoon co-anchor at 680 NewsRadio (CFTR-AM), alongside Laura Carney. The pair now leads the station’s drive home news coverage.
