Early Career — 1997 to 2000
After graduating from Memorial University in 1997, David started his career with the Canadian University Press as the Ottawa Bureau Chief. His articles appeared in several university publications across Canada including the University of British Columbia’s Ubyssey.
He then worked briefly at The Telegram, a well known newspaper based in St. John’s. After that he took up a summer job at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in St. John’s, which later turned into a full time position.

David became the Provincial Affairs Reporter at CBC Newfoundland and Labrador in the year 2000. He served as the lead political reporter for television, radio, and online platforms for nearly 15 years.
