Anne-Marie Mediwake Career

Anne-Marie Mediwake Career

Anne-Marie Mediwake has built one of the most steady and wide-ranging careers in Canadian television journalism. She has worked at every major television news organization in the country and has covered major stories for more than three decades.

Her career stands out because she moved through local news, national reporting, investigative television, major evening newscasts, and then into national morning television.

Starting in Lethbridge, 1993

Anne-Marie Mediwake began her television career in 1993 in Lethbridge, Alberta. This was the starting point of her on-air journalism path and gave her early newsroom experience before she moved into bigger markets.

Move to Toronto and Early CTV Years, 1999

Six years after starting, Anne-Marie Mediwake moved to Toronto in 1999 and joined CTV as a reporter. That move was a major step because it placed her in one of Canada’s biggest media markets and opened the door to national-level work.

Toronto became the place where her career grew from local reporting into broader television visibility.

Building a National Profile at CTV

During her first major run at CTV, Anne-Marie reported for CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson, Canada AM, and CTV Newsnet.

These roles helped her become known to viewers across the country, not just in one city. They also showed that she could handle both hard news and fast-moving live television formats.

Hosting 21c and Expanding Her Range

One of the most important steps in her career came when she became host of CTV’s investigative current affairs program 21c

Bell Media describes the show as a key part of her earlier CTV career and says she brought almost two decades of news and current affairs experience back to the network in 2016.

Global News Toronto and a Bigger Evening News Role

Before joining CBC, Anne-Marie went on to co-anchor Global Toronto’s 6 p.m. News Hour, one of the most visible local evening news slots in the country.

This was an important stage in her career because it placed her in a lead anchor role on a major Toronto newscast.

By this point, she was no longer just known as a reporter. She had become one of the main faces of broadcast news in the city.

Joining CBC News Network, 2009

In September 2009, Anne-Marie Mediwake was hired by the CBC News Network.

This move was another major shift in her career because it took her from Global into the CBC system, where she would soon move into an even more prominent co-anchor position.

The move also showed how strongly she was valued across Canadian television news, since she had now worked at CTV, Global, and CBC.

CBC Toronto News Co-Anchor, 2010 to 2016

In October 2010, she became co-anchor of CBC News Toronto’s supper hour newscasts alongside Dwight Drummond. Her work in this role helped cement her reputation as a trusted evening news anchor.

Leaving CBC and Returning to CTV, 2016

On April 27, 2016, Anne-Marie left her role at CBC Toronto News at 6 p.m. She soon returned to CTV to help launch a new national morning show.

That return mattered because it brought her back to the network where much of her national career had first taken shape.

It also marked a shift from evening news into a very different kind of daily television format.

Launching Your Morning, 2016

In June 2016, Bell Media announced that Anne-Marie Mediwake and Ben Mulroney would host CTV’s new morning program, Your Morning, which premiered in August 2016.

Bell Media described her at the time as a trusted news veteran and said she was bringing nearly two decades of news and current affairs experience back home to CTV.

Growing Into a National Morning Show Host

Since the launch of Your Morning, Anne-Marie has become one of the best-known faces of Canadian morning television. Her role on the show has gone beyond reading headlines.

She has helped lead interviews, public conversations, and special programming. Bell Media also highlighted her as the host of the 2019 Bell Let’s Talk special, In

Their Own Words, which shows that her role at CTV expanded beyond the daily morning program into bigger national specials as well.

Present Role

Anne-Marie Mediwake is currently the host of CTV Your Morning. Bell Media’s current show page lists her in that role and notes that the program continues to air weekday mornings on CTV and CTV News Channel.
