In Ranchi, Team India did something special. They chased down 192 runs against England. It’s their first time chasing more than 150 runs in the fourth innings since the amazing win in Gabba in 2021.

Dhruv Jurel played a big part in this win with his 90 runs against the England spinners on a tough pitch. The pitch was getting harder to play on, and India’s lower-order batsmen were struggling.

But Jurel played smartly and reduced India’s deficit from 134 runs to just 46 runs by the start of Day 3. Sunil Gavaskar, a former India captain, praised Jurel a lot and even compared him to MS Dhoni, another legendary Indian cricketer.

England seemed like they would take a big lead in Ranchi, especially when their spinners, Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir, troubled India’s top batsmen on Saturday.

But Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav frustrated them with a strong partnership of 76 runs. Jurel then went on to score his first fifty and aimed for a big hundred.

During his innings, Gavaskar praised Jurel’s game awareness, saying he reminded him of Dhoni. Gavaskar was impressed not only by Jurel’s batting but also by his wicketkeeping skills. He thinks Jurel has the potential to become another MS Dhoni.

Jurel felt happy about Gavaskar’s words but said there were no special instructions from the team management. He just went out to play his natural game and focus on each ball.
