Prior to his role at Tata CLiQ, Gopal Asthana held the position of Chief Business Officer at Nykaa, a formidable contender within the same industry. A graduate of Government Engineering College in Jabalpur, Asthana kick-started his academic journey with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Subsequently, he pursued a degree in business administration and management from the prestigious Indian Business School, showcasing his dedication to both technical and managerial acumen.
Before his tenure at Nykaa, Asthana’s journey was closely interwoven with Shoppers Stop, where he spent nearly two decades contributing significantly to the company’s growth. Starting as a Category Head in 1998, he progressed to the role of Executive Vice President before parting ways in 2019. His expertise extends across budget management, trend prediction, merchandising strategies, and strategic procurement.
Tata CLiQ, a prominent online retailer owned by the illustrious Tata Group, has emerged as a cornerstone of luxury shopping in India. With a valuation of Rs 750 crore, the brand, situated under Tata Digital, has introduced a slew of high-end labels to the Indian market. Notably, the brand has also expanded its horizon by recently incorporating 13 international brands into its platform.
