The genesis of Chawla’s business can be traced back to the global lockdown triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Forced to return to Jhansi, she initiated her strawberry cultivation at her home. Encouraged by the positive outcomes, she expanded her operations to her father’s 1.5-acre farmhouse, strategically utilizing the available land for cultivating strawberries.

Despite having no prior experience in strawberry farming, Gurleen Chawla embraced the challenge and dedicated herself to learning the intricacies of the trade. Leveraging online platforms, she acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to make her venture successful. Her father’s support was a crucial element in her entrepreneurial journey.

To further enhance her business reach, Gurleen Chawla established an online presence through the creation of a website named “Jhansi Organics.” This platform enables customers to directly purchase her organically grown strawberries online. The convenience and accessibility provided by the website have contributed to the success of her business model.

Gurleen Chawla’s commitment and hard work have yielded impressive results. She reportedly sells approximately 70 kilograms of strawberries daily, generating a revenue of around Rs 30,000. Her entrepreneurial achievements caught the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who acknowledged and appreciated her initiative on his radio show, ‘Maan Ki Baat.’
