Jim Axelrod joined the CBS News network in 1996 as a Miami-based correspondent. Next year in 1997 he served the Dallas bureau and then went to the New York bureau, where he served from 1999 to 2006.
In 2006, He began to serve as the “Chief White House Correspondent” for CBS, then later on in 2009, Jim was titled the network’s “National Correspondent.”
However, after two years from 2012 to 2016, Jim Axelrod worked as an anchor of the Saturday edition of “CBS Evening News.”
