Jithin Vijayan, a 41-year-old IT professional, has etched his name in history by achieving a remarkable feat – a Guinness World Record for the longest outdoor freefall in skydiving, lasting an astounding 2 minutes and 47 seconds. The breathtaking achievement was accomplished during a daring jump from Whiteville, Tennessee, USA, on July 1.

Notably, Jithin’s extraordinary jump not only secured him a prestigious Guinness World Record but also earned him two Asian records. He fearlessly leapt from a staggering altitude of 42,431 feet, marking the highest exit point ever recorded for a skydive. Additionally, he achieved the longest freefall without using a drogue, descending from an impressive height of 36,929 feet.

Reflecting on his remarkable journey, Jithin Vijayan shared that his initial aspiration was to climb Mount Everest and plant the Indian flag at its summit. However, concerns from his family about the risks involved led him to explore other avenues. Undeterred, he found his passion in skydiving, embarking on nearly 200 jumps over the course of a year.

Jithin’s recent accomplishments are not limited to the Guinness World Record and the Asian altitude records. He also broke the previous world record for freefall time, exceeding it by an impressive 2.47 minutes. Furthermore, he secured Asian records for the highest altitude in a skydive and the greatest vertical distance traveled without deploying the parachute.

Apart from his daring skydiving exploits, Jithin is also the director of N-Dimensions Solutions Private Limited, an IT company located in Ernakulam. His lifelong fascination with flight has led him from paragliding to skydiving, and he holds an A Grade license obtained from Spain. Throughout his journey, he has honed his skills at renowned skydiving centers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the UK, turning his dream of flying into a breathtaking reality.
