Who is Kanu Behl?
Kanu Behl, born in 1980, is an Indian filmmaker and screenwriter renowned for his contributions to Hindi Cinema. He spent his formative years in Patiala, Punjab. Kanu is the son of Navindra and Lalit Behl, both notable writer-actor-directors who have directed telefilms for the Doordarshan Channel.
In 1990, Kanu Behl relocated to Delhi, where he completed his schooling at Apeejay School Noida. He went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Delhi University. In 2003, he enrolled in a PG Diploma program in Cinema at Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. During his time at the institute, he had the opportunity to attend the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2006. It was during this period that he directed his first documentary titled “An Actor Prepares.”

Following his graduation from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kanu Behl ventured into creating documentaries. Additionally, he gained valuable experience by working as an assistant director to Dibakar Banerjee on the successful film “Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!”
Kanu Behl collaborated with Banerjee as a co-writer for the film “Love Sex aur Dhokha” before embarking on his directorial debut in 2014 with the film “Titli.” He has also worked on other notable projects such as “Dispatch,” “Binnu Ka Sapna,” and “Dhoop Chhaon.”
