Mayank, a 12-year-old Class 8 student from Lalitpur district in Uttar Pradesh, made history on the popular quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” hosted by Amitabh Bachchan as he became North India’s first crorepati during the special KBC Juniors Week.

The episode featuring Mayank aired on Tuesday, showcasing his exceptional knowledge and composure. What set Mayank apart was his remarkable feat of not using a single lifeline until the Rs 3.2 lakh question. Even when faced with the Rs 12.5 lakh question, he confidently used his first lifeline, displaying his strategic approach to the game. 

Mayank’s achievement is particularly notable as he hails from Mahendragarh, Haryana, and comes from a modest background. His father, Pradeep Kumar, serves as a constable in the Delhi Police, while his mother, Babita, is a housewife. Despite his young age, Mayank has shown extraordinary intellect and determination.

The young prodigy studies at RPS School and, following his remarkable performance on KBC, received recognition and accolades. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar personally spoke to Mayank’s family, commending the young genius for his achievement.

Upon returning to school, Mayank was warmly welcomed by the RPS Group, including Chairperson Dr. Pavitra Rao, CEO Engineer Manish Rao, Principal Dr. Kishore Tiwari, and the entire school management. Mayank expressed his gratitude, stating, “To be the youngest contestant to win such a huge amount is a moment of pride for me and my family.”
