The timeless saga of ‘Ramayan,’ originally broadcast on Doordarshan in 1983, continues to captivate the hearts of millions of Indians. Even during the COVID-19 lockdown, when the serial was re-telecast, it garnered immense love from viewers nationwide. ‘Ramayana,’ which aired in the ’80s, bestowed deity status upon its every character in the eyes of the audience. Arun Govil essayed the role of Lord Ram, while Deepika Chikhalia portrayed Sita. While several actors from the show remain active in the entertainment industry, there is one cast member who has since departed from the acting world.

In ‘Ramayan,’ the narrative delved into the story of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita’s sons, Luv and Kush. Following ‘Ramayan,’ ‘Uttar Ramayana’ continued the tale, featuring Swapnil Joshi as Kush and Mayuresh Kshetramade as Luv.

Post-‘Uttar Ramayana,’ Swapnil Joshi continued his acting career and gained recognition as Shri Krishna in another television serial. Today, he is a prominent figure in Marathi cinema. In contrast, Mayuresh Kshetramade, who portrayed Luv, took a different path, distancing himself from the world of film and television.
