Varun Alagh serves as the Chairman and CEO of Honasa Consumer Ltd, the parent company of renowned FMCG brands like Mamaearth and The Derma Co. In a recent development, the company has reported a remarkable nearly two-fold surge in its consolidated profit after tax, amounting to Rs 29.43 crore (approximately Rs 30 crore) for the second quarter ending in September.

Varun Alagh, along with his wife Ghazal Alagh, co-founded Honasa, a venture that originated following the birth of their first child. Varun commenced his professional journey with Hindustan Unilever and subsequently ascended to the role of Senior Brand Manager at Diageo. He further accumulated experience during a four-year tenure at Coca-Cola.

An alumnus of Delhi College of Engineering, Varun holds an engineering degree (2001-2005) and pursued post-graduation in Finance and Marketing from XLRI Jamshedpur. Throughout his college days, he engaged in internships and live projects with esteemed companies such as Colgate Palmolive, Havells Electric, Maruti, and Nokia.

Ghazal Alagh gained prominence through her participation as a judge in the reality show Shark Tank India. The couple embarked on their entrepreneurial journey in 2016, prompted by challenges in finding toxin-free products for their baby. This experience led to the inception of Mamaearth, which subsequently achieved unicorn status in 2022.

In the latest financial quarter ending in September, Honasa Consumer Ltd witnessed a noteworthy 21.09% surge in total income, reaching Rs 503.18 crore. The company’s shares were valued at Rs 352.10 on the BSE. Varun Alagh’s multifaceted career and entrepreneurial success underscore the impact of his strategic leadership in the FMCG sector.
