Inspired and guided by his grandfather, Tribhuvandas Bapu, he gave his very first Ram Katha under a banyan tree in his hometown, Talgajarda, Gujarat. 

By 1966, Bapu had completed his teacher training at Shahpur Teacher’s Training College in Junagadh. 

He began working as a primary school teacher in Mahuva, a nearby town. That same year, he delivered his first full-length nine-day Katha at an ashram in Ganthila village, Gujarat.

Growing Fame in Gujarat and India

In the 1970s, his kathas began gaining popularity beyond his village. People from nearby towns and districts started attending. 

What made Bapu’s storytelling unique was the way he spoke calmly, clearly, and with full emotion. He made the ancient stories of Ramcharitmanas feel personal and relevant to everyday life.

By 1976, his fame had grown so much that he was invited to speak in Nairobi, Kenya, making it his first international katha.

One of the biggest was held in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, where over 1.2 million people gathered to hear him speak.
