Early Career in the U.S. (1997–2006)

After graduating from IIT Kanpur in 1997, Mukesh moved to Silicon Valley in the United States.

There, he worked as a software engineer and later became a product manager in several top companies, like:

  • Deloitte – where he began learning about business and tech consulting.
  • eWanted and NexTag – here, he got hands-on experience in e-commerce and tech products.
  • newScale Inc. – a company focused on IT solutions, where Mukesh grew deeper into product management.

The Start of Myntra (2007–2014)

In 2007, after almost a decade in the U.S., Mukesh came back to India with the dream of starting his own company.

He co-founded Myntra along with Ashutosh Lawania and Vineet Saxena.

At first, Myntra sold customized products like printed T-shirts, mugs, and caps. But over time, the team saw a bigger opportunity in online fashion retail.

Mukesh led Myntra through a major change, turning it into a full online fashion store offering clothes, shoes, and accessories from popular Indian and global brands.

By 2014, Myntra had become one of the top fashion e-commerce brands in India.

That same year, Flipkart acquired Myntra in a deal said to be worth over $300 million. Mukesh continued to lead the company even after the buyout.

Leadership at Flipkart (2014–2016)

After Myntra became part of Flipkart, Mukesh was given a bigger role. He became the Head of Commerce & Advertising Business at Flipkart.

In this role, he helped improve Flipkart’s product strategy, customer experience, and brand partnerships.

His deep knowledge of fashion, branding, and customer needs made Flipkart’s marketplace stronger.

In 2016, after helping Flipkart reach new milestones, Mukesh decided to step away and begin a new chapter in the health and wellness space.

Creating Cult.fit (Cure.fit) in 2016

In the same year, he teamed up with Ankit Nagori (former Chief Business Officer at Flipkart) and launched Cure.fit, now known as Cult.fit.

The idea was simple but powerful: to offer a complete health and fitness solution in one place.

Cult.fit focused on four key areas:

  • Fitness (gyms and group workouts)
  • Healthy food (Eat.fit)
  • Mental wellness (Mind.fit)
  • Doctor care (Care.fit)

Leading Tata Digital (2021–Present)

In 2021, Mukesh took on a major corporate role as the President of Tata Digital, the digital arm of the 150+ year-old Tata Group.

Here, he played a big part in growing Tata’s online services.

This included e-commerce platforms like Tata Neu, digital health, fintech, and more. His experience in startups helped him bring a fresh approach to a large traditional company.
