A young farmer died in a fight with security forces at the border of Punjab and Haryana. This has made other farmers very angry, and they’re planning big protests. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) group will join the protest by having a ‘Black Friday’ today. Rakesh Tikait, a leader from Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), said SKM will also organize a tractor march towards Delhi.

  1. SKM wants to intensify protests with a big rally on Friday, a tractor rally across the country on February 26, and a big meeting in Delhi’s Ramlila Ground on March 14.
  2. Rakesh Tikait said farmers will drive tractors towards Delhi for a day.
  3. Farmers plan to attend the March 14 meeting without tractors. Tikait says the government says they can go, so let’s see if they stop us.
  4. SKM demands that Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and home minister Anil Vij be held responsible for the farmer’s death. They also want them to resign.
  5. Haryana Police warned protestors that damaging property will lead to their belongings being taken away.
  6. Thousands of farmers are camped at Khanauri and Shambhu borders between Punjab and Haryana, demanding fair prices for their crops and debt relief.
  7. The farmers stopped their march to Delhi for two days after the farmer’s death.
  8. The Congress party wants Parliament and the Punjab government to talk about farmers’ issues.
  9. Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda says they need more discussions to find a solution.
  10. Union Minister Anurag Thakur says the government is ready to talk with farmers and wants to help them earn more.
