Yashasvi’s cricket journey began when he moved to Mumbai at the age of 10. He lived in tents near the Azad Maidan and sold pani puri to support himself. 

His turning point came in 2013 when cricket coach Jwala Singh noticed his talent and offered him training and a place to live.

Rise in Youth Cricket

He gained national attention in 2015 after scoring 319 runs and taking 13 wickets in a single school match, a rare double performance. 

Yashasvi continued to shine and was selected for the India Under-19 team, where he performed exceptionally.

His biggest youth breakthrough came in the 2020 ICC U-19 World Cup, where he was the highest run-scorer and won the Player of the Tournament award.

Domestic Cricket & Record-Breaking Moments

Yashasvi made his first-class debut for Mumbai in January 2019. 

Later that year, he smashed a double century (203 runs) in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, becoming the youngest cricketer in the world to do so in List A cricket.

IPL Stardom

He was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 IPL Auction. 

Though his early seasons were quiet, he exploded in 2023, scoring his first IPL century and setting a record for the fastest IPL fifty (13 balls).

India National Team

Yashasvi made his Test debut for India in July 2023 against the West Indies and scored 171 runs, earning Player of the Match. 

He followed this up with back-to-back double centuries in Test matches against England in 2024, joining an elite group of Indian batters.
