Toronto-bred and Montreal-refined, Andrew Brennan has spent his career chasing the story wherever it breaks.

He is a Canadian broadcast journalist and news anchor, best known as an anchor and reporter for CP24, Toronto’s breaking news channel.

Student Journalism at Concordia (around 2013)

Andrew got his start in journalism at The Link, one of Canada’s largest and most respected student activist newspapers. He held the roles of News Editor, Assistant Editor, and Staff Reporter.

He was part of a masthead recognized for producing some of the most John H. McDonald Journalism Award-winning work in Canada in 2013.

2012: Radio Beginnings at CJAD 800

Andrew began his broadcasting career in 2012 with Newstalk CJAD 800 in Montreal, where he worked as a news anchor and reporter. He spent about five years building his craft in radio.

During this period, he covered major Quebec stories. These included the 2012 Maple Spring student protests, the Quebec City mosque shooting, and the Luka Magnotta murder trial.

2018: Move to Television with CityNews Montreal

In 2018, Andrew transitioned from radio to television. He joined Breakfast Television Montreal as a reporter and writer, part of the Rogers-owned CityNews Montreal team.

When CityNews Montreal launched its evening newscasts in September 2018, Andrew and fellow former CJAD reporter Emily Campbell were joined on the beat by Giordano Cescutti and Akil Alleyne, under supervising producer Melanie Porco.

In August 2019, Andrew joined CTV Montreal as a videojournalist and assignment editor. As a solo videojournalist, he shot, wrote, and reported his own stories.

At CTV Montreal, he continued covering breaking news and politics at the Quebec National Assembly.

2023 to Present: Anchor and Reporter at CP24
