Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah got in trouble for blocking Ollie Pope during a run in the first Test in Hyderabad. He got a warning from the ICC for this, as it was his first mistake in two years. The ICC said Bumrah broke the rule about touching players in the game. Umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, and third umpire Marais Erasmus, saw what happened and told Bumrah off.
Bumrah agreed to the punishment given by match referee Richie Richardson, so there was no need for a big meeting about it.
India’s cricket team dropped to fifth place in the World Test Championship after losing to England by 28 runs. They were briefly in first place after playing in South Africa but got passed by Australia.
India’s under-19 cricket team is doing well in the Super Six stage of the U-19 World Cup in Bloemfontein. They’ve won three matches in a row and will play against New Zealand next. India has the advantage of playing at the Mangaung Oval, where they’ve played all their matches so far.
New Zealand will have to get used to the conditions quickly. Some Indian batters like Musheer Khan and skipper Uday Saharan have been performing consistently. Naman Tiwari and Saumy Pandey have been doing well in bowling. Meanwhile, New Zealand hasn’t been doing great with the bat.
