In a remarkable tale of perseverance and achievement, Deepesh Kumari, the daughter of a street vendor from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, has emerged triumphant by securing All India Rank (AIR) 93 in the highly competitive Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. The UPSC exam, renowned as one of the most challenging in the country, serves as the gateway for individuals aspiring to become officers in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Revenue Service (IRS).

Deepesh Kumari’s inspirational journey is a testament to the power of determination and hard work in overcoming formidable obstacles.

Hailing from a modest background, Deepesh’s father, Govind, has been running a street food cart selling snacks for the past 26 years. Living in a small house with his wife, three sons, and two daughters, Govind’s joy knew no bounds upon learning of Deepesh’s exceptional achievement in the UPSC results.

Deepesh’s educational journey began in Bharatpur, where she completed her 12th grade before pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at the state-run MBM Engineering College in Jodhpur. Subsequently, she furthered her academic pursuits by obtaining a Master’s degree (M.Tech) from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, where she studied under a fellowship.

In 2019, Deepesh embarked on her UPSC preparation journey by enrolling in a coaching institution in Delhi. However, the challenges posed by the COVID-19 lockdown compelled her to return home, where she resumed her rigorous preparations for the exam. Despite facing setbacks in her initial attempt, Deepesh persevered and secured a place in the interview round. In her second attempt, with mathematics as her optional subject, she secured the remarkable 93rd position overall.

Deepesh attributes her success to the unwavering support of her family, particularly her mother, Usha, who provided comfort and encouragement throughout the arduous journey. Her mother’s resilience became a guiding force, reinforcing the idea that, even in the face of failure, hard work remains a source of happiness.

Deepesh Kumari’s achievement stands as a beacon of hope for aspiring UPSC candidates, underscoring the importance of tenacity, commitment, and fortitude in the pursuit of goals. Her story exemplifies how one’s background and financial constraints should not act as barriers to pursuing and achieving one’s aspirations.
