In order to meet the requirements of the Indian army, Mahindra has commenced the delivery of India’s first Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle (ALSV). Known as the Mahindra Armado, this vehicle is entirely designed, developed, and manufactured in India specifically for our armed forces.
The Armado is a specialized light armoured vehicle intended for military and defense purposes. Its design allows for modularity, ensuring efficient maintenance and the capability to be upgraded or reconfigured in the field to fulfill a wide range of operational roles. The ALSV provides ballistic protection up to B7, STANAG Level II, ensuring enhanced safety and security for its occupants.

The ALSV ensures secure mobility for the front, side, and rear areas, meeting STANAG Level I standards for ballistics and blast protection. It accommodates four crew members along with their battle load, offering abundant stowage space for arms and ammunition within the crew compartment. Additionally, it boasts an additional cargo load-carrying capacity of 400 kilograms. Furthermore, the ALSV has the capability to be upgraded to meet STANAG – II standards for enhanced ballistics protection.

The ALSV is equipped with a self-cleaning-type exhaust scavenging and air filtration system specifically designed to handle extreme dusty climates, making it well-suited for desert environments. It boasts a maximum speed exceeding 120 kilometers per hour and can accelerate from 0 to 60 kilometers per hour in just 12 seconds. With a 30-degree gradability, it can tackle steep inclines with ease, and its parking brake has a strong holding capacity even at full gross vehicle weight. Additionally, it adheres to the FINABEL standard by offering a run-flat system capable of covering 50 kilometers on all five wheels, ensuring enhanced reliability and mobility.
The 6 to 8-seater Armored Protection Vehicle for Security, Light Armoured Ambulance, Command and Control Vehicle, Light Mortar 81/82mm Vehicle, and Ammunition Carrier for Light Weapons are some of the versions of the Mahindra ALSV.
