Gautam Singhania, the 58-year-old billionaire chairman of Raymond Ltd, announced on Monday that he and his wife of 24 years, Nawaz Modi, are separating and will be pursuing different paths. The couple, who had an eight-year courtship, got married in 1999.

In a social media post, Singhania expressed that this Diwali would be different from those in the past, hinting at the recent decision to separate from Nawaz. The announcement came shortly after a video surfaced in which Nawaz alleged that she was prevented from attending Singhania’s Diwali party at JK Gram, Singhania’s property in Thane, on November 12. The video showed Nawaz claiming that despite receiving an invitation, she was stopped by security guards and made to wait outside for over three hours.

Nawaz Modi, 53, holds a law degree, and her father, Nadar Modi, is a renowned lawyer. She attended the Hughes Road New Activity School and completed her education at the Cathedral and John Cannon Schools in Mumbai. After earning a Bachelor of Arts from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai, she pursued a legal degree from Government Law College and KC Law College, both located in Mumbai. Nawaz has been interested in sports and fitness from an early age.

Gautam Singhania and Nawaz Modi have two daughters, Niharika and Nisa. Nawaz, apart from being the wife of a prominent industrialist, is also a fitness trainer who owns a fitness center in Mumbai. She recently authored a book titled ‘Pause, Rewind: Natural Anti-Ageing Techniques’. The book presumably focuses on health and wellness, given Nawaz’s background in fitness.

The separation announcement has added a personal dimension to Gautam Singhania’s public profile, known primarily for his role as the chairman and managing director of the diversified conglomerate, Raymond Ltd.
