Hailing from Ambala, he completed his diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management Catering & Nutrition, Pusa, New Delhi. Alyona Kapoor is his spouse. He embarked on his career in 1984.

At the age of 22 in 1992, he became the youngest executive chef of Centaur Hotel in Mumbai.

He also holds the distinction of being one of the world’s wealthiest chefs. Wonderchef, his company, was established and recorded an estimated revenue of Rs 700 crore last year, and Rs 560 crore the previous year.

To bolster their team and intensify marketing efforts, the company intends to invest Rs 100 crore.

His co-founder is the former CEO of Sodexo. In 1998, Kapoor ventured into entrepreneurship by inaugurating his first eatery in Dubai.

The company’s valuation stands at Rs 750 crore.

According to Statisca, Kapoor was India’s wealthiest chef in 2019, earning an income of Rs 24.8 crore. The second richest was Ranveer Brar with an annual income of Rs 49.9 crore.
