Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s latest film, “Animal,” featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, has become a focal point of attention across the nation. While the movie has stirred controversy for its depictions of violence and alleged misogyny, it has also garnered praise for its performances. One might assume that Ranbir Kapoor is the sole star kid in the cast; however, there is another, though with less famous actor parents.

Bobby Deol, who plays the antagonist Abrar in “Animal,” has a character with three wives, one of whom is portrayed by London-based Pakistani actress Shafina Shah. Despite Shafina’s limited screen time in the film, her appearance and performance have received acclaim, particularly for her interactions with Bobby Deol and his other ‘wives.’

Shafina Shah, a second-generation performer, is the daughter of an Indian man and a Pakistani woman, both of whom were actors. Shafina shared insights into her background in an interview with The Namal, stating, “I was born in London. My mother, who is Pathan, was born in Kohat, Pakistan, then she moved to the UK. My late father was from Bootwada, India, who moved to the UK and became a well-known British actor for his time. Both my parents were actors and met through the industry.”

Shafina’s father, Haji Ismail Raj Muhammad Patel, was better known by his screen name Raj Patel, while her mother, Atiya Shah, was also an actress in Pakistan. Following in her parents’ footsteps, Shafina pursued a career as an actress, model, and TV presenter.

Aside from her acting pursuits, Shafina Shah made headlines by winning a beauty pageant earlier in 2023. Crowned Miss Pakistan World 2023, she is set to represent the country at the upcoming Miss World pageant, marking a significant achievement in her career.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, “Animal” boasts a star-studded cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Anil Kapoor. The film, released in theatres on December 1, has sparked conversations not only for its narrative and performances but also for introducing emerging talents like Shafina Shah to the audience. As discussions surrounding “Animal” continue, the film adds another layer to the evolving landscape of Bollywood cinema.
