Shiv Nadar holds the title of the wealthiest individual in Delhi. He ranks as the third wealthiest person in India, with a net worth of approximately Rs 2,07,700 crore (according to Forbes). He initiated a company with five friends in his garage. Initially, his business focused on manufacturing calculators and microprocessors. Eventually, this firm transformed into HCL Technologies, a leading IT company in the country, generating an annual revenue exceeding 11.8 billion dollars.

Having served as the company’s chairman for over forty years, Shiv Nadar stepped down from his position. His daughter, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, assumed the role of company head. She is also among the wealthiest women in India. The company has a global presence across 60 countries and employs a workforce of 222,000 individuals.

Shiv Nadar is also renowned as one of the foremost philanthropists in the nation. He generously donated 1.1 billion dollars to the Shiv Nadar Foundation.

Shiv Nadar pursued engineering studies at PSG College of Technology. His wife has a passion for art and possesses two art museums in Delhi.

Shiv Nadar was born in Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu. He specializes in Electrical and Electronics engineering.

In 1967, he commenced his professional journey by joining the Walchand group. His initial venture was named Microcomp. HCL was established in 1976 with an investment of Rs 1,87,000.

By 1980, the company had ventured into the international market for IT hardware sales. In its inaugural year of international operations, the firm generated a revenue of Rs 10 lakh.

In 1996, Shiv Nadar established an engineering college named SSN College of Engineering in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Additionally, his organization manages various other educational institutions.

According to the 2022 Hurun list, Shiv Nadar emerged as India’s most magnanimous individual, donating Rs 1161 crore, which equates to Rs 3 crore per day. Azim Premji secured the second position with a donation of Rs 484 crore.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Shiv Nadar’s daughter, presently serves as the chairperson of HCL Technologies. As per Hurun, her net worth last year stood at Rs 84,330 crore.

She fulfills the role of trustee for the Shiv Nadar Foundation and also oversees the operations of the Habitats Trust, a foundation dedicated to safeguarding habitats of indigenous species.

She successfully attained her MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Management.
