The COVID-19-induced lockdown had a diverse impact on people’s lives, altering lifestyles across the globe. Amidst the restrictions, individuals explored various interests, such as gardening, cooking, drawing, and reading.
In Udaipur, Digvijay Singh, a 16-year-old at the time, found himself with plenty of spare time during the lockdown. Wanting to engage in something both challenging and enjoyable, he experimented with different activities until he discovered his passion for making chocolates at home. This minor endeavor led to the birth of his very own chocolate brand.
Now at the age of 19, Digvijay has achieved remarkable success with his brand “Saraam,” which offers high-quality chocolates crafted from bean to bar. His delectable chocolates have delighted hundreds of satisfied customers across the nation, with more than two tonnes of chocolates being delivered to significant cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Udaipur, and Jaipur.
What sets Digvijay’s chocolates apart is his use of regional fruits and spices, such as jamun, saffron, and bair. By incorporating these indigenous ingredients, he not only preserves the country’s culinary heritage but also creates unique and highly sought-after chocolates.

Born and raised in a middle-class household, Digvijay always aspired to do something unconventional while witnessing his dedicated father run his auto business. When the COVID lockdown confined him to his home, he decided to pursue his newfound interest in making chocolates. Enthusiastically sharing the idea with his cousin Mahaveer Singh, they both embarked on a journey to learn how to create chocolates by watching tutorials on YouTube.
Initially, Digvijay gifted these delightful treats to family and friends. But his big break came when his father, who owned an auto showroom, discovered that a car dealership offered chocolate boxes to their clients for every car sold. Inspired by this, Digvijay approached hotel and auto dealership owners to sell his handmade chocolates.
In 2021, he received his first major order for 1,000 chocolates from a car dealership, prompting him to officially launch his brand, Saraam, the following year. What started as a pastime interest has now become a renowned chocolate company, boasting sales of Rs 1 crore.
To ensure the quality of his chocolates, Digvijay sources his cocoa from the southern regions of India, specifically Kerala and Tamil Nadu, while obtaining fruits from areas where they are predominantly cultivated, like kokum from Kerala and Udaipur.
Saraam’s popularity has grown steadily, with customers having the convenience of purchasing these delectable chocolates through their website and Instagram, in addition to physical stores in Udaipur and Jaipur. Digvijay’s inspiring journey serves as a motivation for individuals who aspire to turn their passions into successful careers.
