Nasrullagarh, Haryana: The UPSC exam, known as one of India’s toughest exams, continues to attract lakhs of aspirants every year, all with the dream of becoming an IAS officer. Vandana hails from a humble family with conservative views on girls’ education. Despite opposition from her family members, her father, Mahipal Singh Chauhan, took a bold step and ensured Vandana’s education at Kanya Gurukul near Moradabad. This act of support ignited Vandana’s determination to become an IAS officer in the future.

Undeterred by the lack of family support, Vandana pursued her education, completing her LLB at BR Ambedkar University, Agra. Facing financial constraints, she dedicated herself to self-study at home during her UPSC preparation journey, spending 12 to 14 hours daily to achieve her dream.

In a groundbreaking achievement on her first attempt in 2012, Vandana secured an All India Rank of 8 in the UPSC, an inspiring feat accomplished in Hindi Medium. Her success became a source of motivation for countless village girls who face similar challenges in accessing education through English medium schools.

Today, Vandana Singh Chauhan serves as the District Manager (DM) in Uttarakhand’s Almora district, a position that showcases her exceptional capabilities and dynamic leadership. Her prompt decision-making and no-delay policy have earned her praise and admiration nationwide.

Vandana’s journey stands as a testament to determination and self-belief, breaking stereotypes and inspiring millions of aspiring individuals across the country.
