For his undergraduate studies, he enrolled in the Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering program at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. However, driven by a passion for computer science, Sikka transitioned to Syracuse University in New York, where he earned his B.S. in Computer Science. His pursuit of knowledge continued as he completed his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1996.

After the acquisition of his second startup, Bodha.com, by Peregrine Systems, Sikka assumed the role of area vice president in the company. His journey then led him to SAP in 2002, where he spent over a decade in various senior leadership roles.
Sikka’s impact at SAP was monumental, earning him the distinction of becoming SAP’s first Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in 2007. As CTO, he played a pivotal role in the creation of SAP’s groundbreaking in-memory data platform, SAP HANA, which went on to become the fastest-growing product in the company’s history.
In 2014, Vishal Sikka assumed the role of CEO and MD at Infosys, bringing his visionary leadership to the forefront. During his tenure, Infosys witnessed significant growth and transformation. Sikka’s strategic insights and focus on innovation propelled Infosys to new heights, solidifying its position as a global technology leader. His contributions were reflected in his status as one of the highest-paid CEOs in the country, with a salary package exceeding Rs 48 crore.
Post his tenure at Infosys, Sikka continued to contribute to the tech landscape. In 2019, he founded Vianai, an artificial intelligence company that reflects his ongoing commitment to cutting-edge technology and innovation.
