Rajat Patidar couldn’t participate in the T20 tournament due to his Achilles heel injury. As a replacement, South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell has joined the RCB squad instead of England speedster Reece Topley.
On April 7th, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced that Vyshak Vijay Kumar would be replacing the injured Rajat Patidar in the remaining games of the ongoing IPL 2023. Patidar had been ruled out of the T20 tournament due to an Achilles heel injury.
Who is Vyshak Vijay Kumar?
Vyshak Vijay Kumar is a 26-year-old Indian right-arm fast bowler who has gained recognition in the Indian domestic cricket league for his talent. He is known for his impressive speed and his capability to bowl knuckleballs and yorkers, making him an important player during the final overs of the game.
Vyshak has played in many famous tournaments for Karnataka, such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Ranji Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has taken 38 wickets in his 10 First Class matches, and 11 in List A. In 14 T20 games, he has taken 22 wickets. In the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he had a fantastic economy rate of 6.31 and took 15 wickets in 10 matches.
Vyshak’s talent has not gone unnoticed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who have signed him for a massive 20 lakh rupees. With his remarkable skills and successful record, Vyshak is expected to make a considerable difference for RCB both now and in the future.

It’s interesting to note that Kumar had previously worked as a net bowler for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the IPL 2023, where he bowled to Andre Russell and Shubman Gill, among others. Kumar has expressed his aspiration to bowl like Prasidh Krishna, who has made a name for himself as one of the finest bowlers in the T20 tournament.
There is another update, as South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell has taken the place of England speedster Reece Topley in the RCB team for IPL 2023. Topley got hurt his shoulder during fielding in RCB’s first game against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday, April 2.
Right now, the Bangalore team is facing difficulty in finding enough players to play their initial matches because two of their star players, Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga, are unavailable. In a recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders, the coach of RCB, Sanjay Bangar, informed that Reece Topley has also been ruled out due to a shoulder injury, but Hasaranga and Hazlewood are expected to join the team shortly.
