He moved from a small market Prairie newsroom to the corner office at one of the busiest all-news stations in the country, and along the way helped shape Toronto’s on-air sound for nearly four decades.

1976: Starts in Moose Jaw at CHAB Radio

After graduating from Fanshawe College’s Broadcast Journalism program in 1976, Scott took his first on-air job at CHAB Radio in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

It was a classic small-market start that gave him reps in every part of a working newsroom.

Late 1970s: CHED Edmonton on the City Hall beat

Scott moved west to CHED in Edmonton, Alberta, where he covered the City Hall beat. The grind of municipal politics sharpened him as a hard news reporter.

1981: Joins CJCL Toronto as Queen’s Park reporter
