She works in Hindi and Gujarati films and television. She became widely known for playing Hansa Parekh in the Khichdi franchise.

Supriya Pathak was born in Mumbai into a family with deep roots in the performing arts. 

She was an introverted child who grew up in Mumbai’s Parsi Colony, making her acting debut under her mother’s direction. 

Her father passed away when she was young. Wanting to avoid being a financial burden, Pathak began working at just 17 years old.

Supriya Pathak first worked in theatre. She acted in plays such as Maina Gurjari (under her mother Dina Pathak’s direction) and later Biwiyon Ka Madersa, staged at Prithvi Theatre. 

She was noticed there by Jennifer Kendall, who recommended her for films. 

Her film debut came with Kalyug (1981), directed by Shyam Benegal. In this film, she acted with Shashi Kapoor, Rekha, Anant Nag, Raj Babbar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sushma Seth, Victor Banerjee, A. K. Hangal, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, and others. 

In the early 1980s, she appeared in films such as Vijeta (1982), Bazaar (1982), Gandhi (1982), Bekaraar (1983), Masoom (1983), Dharm Aur Qanoon (1984), Awaaz (1984), Bahu Ki Awaaz (1985), Mirch Masala (1985), Akalathe Ambili (1985, Malayalam), Arjun (1985), Jhoothi (1985), and Dilwaala (1986).
