Anthony Farnell began his on-air weather career after finishing his meteorology degree in 2003. He started at KPAX in Missoula, Montana, where he worked as a morning meteorologist.

In 2005, he returned to Montreal, and then he worked briefly at Bellator Energy, trading weather derivatives, and later joined Global Montreal’s evening newscast. In 2006, he moved to Global Toronto and became Chief Meteorologist.

Along with his main weather role in Toronto, Global News has said Farnell delivers forecasts across four Global News markets in Eastern Canada and also gives seasonal forecasts on the Corus Radio Network.

Farnell has also been part of Global Toronto’s evening lineup, where he appears on Global News at 5 and Global News at 6. In that same lineup, Antony Robart leads Global News at 5 and joins Tracy Tong on Global News at 6.

Along with the evening shows, he is also seen in the wider Global News Toronto team with anchors and presenters such as Tracy Tong, Antony Robart, Candace Daniel, and Susan Hay, plus fellow meteorologist Ross Hull.

Anthony has also taken part in public events linked to the network. For example, he and Global News anchor Susan Hay made a guest appearance in the National Ballet of Canada’s The Nutcracker.
