Diana Swain Career

Diana Swain began her media career in British Columbia, working in print and radio before moving into television news.
In 1988, she joined CKND-TV in Winnipeg as a co-anchor. She co-anchored the evening newscast along with her father, Brian Swain.
She joined CBC in 1990 at CBC Winnipeg (CBWT). She reported for the local program 24 Hours, later anchored it, and also anchored the Winnipeg portion of Canada Now.
After moving to Ontario, she hosted CBC News Toronto. She also regularly filled in on The National, including as a substitute anchor along with long-time host Peter Mansbridge (as a fill-in anchor for him).
Swain worked in CBC’s investigative journalism for many years. She reported investigative stories for The National as a senior investigative correspondent and appeared on CBC News Network.
From 2016 to 2019, she produced and hosted her weekly program The Investigators with Diana Swain, where she interviewed journalists about how major stories are reported.
She also covered major events for CBC, including the Olympics. She was a lead host for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, along with sports host Scott Russell, and later returned for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, along with sports host David Amber. She also reported from the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics for CBC News.
In CBC leadership roles, she served as Senior Investigative Editor (2019 to 2021) and later became Executive Producer of The Fifth Estate (2021 to 2023).
