Huma Qureshi Personal Life

Huma Qureshi generally keeps her private life away from the spotlight, but like other Bollywood stars, she also has some serious relationships and rumors too.

Relationships, Rumours & Link-ups

Huma Qureshi is currently in a relationship with Rachit Singh.

She was also previously in a relationship with filmmaker Mudassar Aziz and rumored link-ups.

In Relationship with Rachit Singh

Rachit Singh (2024–Present): After months of quiet speculation, Huma “hard-launched” her relationship with acting coach and actor Rachit Singh via a heartfelt Instagram post in mid-2026.

The couple faced intense tabloid buzz regarding a rumored late-2026 intimate wedding. Both Huma and Rachit have directly addressed the public, clarifying that they have no immediate marriage timeline.

Past Relationship

Huma’s most prominent past relationship was with director and writer Mudassar Aziz. They began dating in 2018 and officially confirmed their relationship on Instagram in September 2019.

After three years together, they mutually parted ways in late 2022. They maintained an amicable friendship and continued to collaborate professionally, such as co-producing the movie Double XL, which was announced in December 2021 and released on 4 November 2022, while they were reportedly still together.

Rumours & Link-ups

Sohail Khan (Rumour): One of the most persistent and widely publicised rumours linked Huma with actor-filmmaker Sohail Khan. Tabloids frequently speculated about their equation, even attempting to link her to his subsequent marital issues. Huma vehemently thrashed these reports on multiple public platforms, calling him an “elder brother” and slamming the media for creating baseless narratives.
Anurag Kashyap (Rumour): Following her breakthrough role in Gangs of Wasseypur, gossip mills claimed Huma was romantically involved with director Anurag Kashyap and alleged she was the catalyst behind his split with Kalki Koechlin. Both Huma and Anurag strongly denied the allegations. Kashyap later reflected that it was the most “horrible rumour” he had ever heard about himself, noting that the media glare made their professional friendship awkward for a period.
Shahid Kapoor (Rumour): Early in her career, Huma was briefly linked by tabloids to actor Shahid Kapoor after they were spotted together in public settings. Neither party ever acknowledged the speculation, and the rumors quickly fizzled out without any substance.

Huma was raised in a Delhi-based family. Her parents initially had concerns about Huma and Saqib Saleem entering the film industry, but she has said that they later became supportive of their career choices.

Huma Qureshi Career

Huma Qureshi’s career has moved across theatre, advertising, Hindi cinema, regional films, international productions, streaming series, and eventually film production.

Rather than staying with one genre, she has regularly moved between mainstream entertainers and character-driven projects.

Theatre and Advertising: Before 2012

Before entering films, Huma worked extensively in theatre in Delhi. She performed with N. K. Sharma’s Act 1 theatre group and also worked in productions associated with theatre personalities such as Aamir Raza Husain. Theatre helped shape the acting foundation she later brought to cinema.

After moving to Mumbai, she began auditioning for advertisements. She appeared in campaigns for brands including Samsung, Nerolac, Pears, Idea, Bajaj, and LG, working in commercials featuring stars such as Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

A Samsung mobile commercial became particularly important. Anurag Kashyap, who directed the advertisement, noticed her performance and later offered her a role in Gangs of Wasseypur. Huma has described the film as the project that changed the direction of her life.

2012 to 2015: Breakthrough with Gangs of Wasseypur

Huma made her Hindi film debut in 2012 as Mohsina in Anurag Kashyap’s two-part crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur. She appeared alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, and Tigmanshu Dhulia.

Her performance immediately brought her industry recognition and established her as an actress capable of handling unconventional characters. She followed it with Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, opposite Kunal Kapoor.

In 2013, she appeared in Ek Thi Daayan, D Day, and Shorts. D Day placed her alongside actors including Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, and Arjun Rampal.

Her role in Abhishek Chaubey’s Dedh Ishqiya in 2014 brought her together with Madhuri Dixit, Naseeruddin Shah, and Arshad Warsi.

She continued taking supporting yet significant roles, including her appearance in Sriram Raghavan’s Badlapur in 2015, starring Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

2016 to 2019: Mainstream Films and International Expansion

Huma widened the scale of her work during this period. In 2017, she appeared opposite Akshay Kumar in the courtroom comedy drama Jolly LLB 2.

The same year, she entered international cinema with Gurinder Chadha’s historical drama Viceroy’s House, released in India as Partition: 1947. Huma described this period as an opportunity to broaden her career beyond Hindi cinema.

She later entered Tamil cinema through Pa. Ranjith’s Kaala in 2018, sharing the screen with Rajinikanth.

In 2019, Huma moved further into streaming entertainment by starring as Shalini in Netflix’s dystopian series Leila. This marked an important step toward the digital projects that would become a major part of her later career.

2020 to 2023: Maharani, Hollywood and OTT Success

One of Huma Qureshi’s biggest career turns came with SonyLIV’s Maharani in 2021. She took the lead role of Rani Bharti, a homemaker who unexpectedly enters the world of politics.

The series became closely associated with her screen identity and continued for four seasons. She worked with performers including Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti, Vineet Kumar, and Pramod Pathak.

Also in 2021, Huma appeared as Geeta in Zack Snyder’s Hollywood zombie action film Army of the Dead. The Netflix production gave her another international platform. She also appeared with Akshay Kumar in Bell Bottom.

Her regional work continued with the Tamil action film Valimai in 2022. That year, she also starred in Double XL and played the title character in Netflix’s dark comedy thriller Monica, O My Darling, alongside Rajkummar Rao, Radhika Apte and Sikandar Kher.

In 2023, she portrayed celebrated Indian chef and cookbook writer Tarla Dalal in the biographical film Tarla.

2024 to 2025: Stronger Female-Led Roles

Huma continued leading projects rather than limiting herself to conventional supporting parts. Maharani remained central to her career, with its fourth season arriving on SonyLIV in November 2025.

In 2025, she appeared in Jolly LLB 3, returning to the franchise, and starred in Single Salma.

She also played police officer Roohi Kartar in Bayaan, a film selected for its world premiere in the Discovery section of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Huma also joined Shefali Shah and Rasika Dugal in the third season of Netflix’s Delhi Crime, playing Meena Chaudhary.

2026: Producer and New Career Phase

By 2026, Huma had expanded her career beyond acting. Together with her brother Saqib Saleem, she launched the production banner Saleem Siblings and moved into producing her own projects.

Their crime thriller Baby Do Die Do became one of the company’s first major productions. Huma both produced and starred in the film as Baby Karmarkar, a hitwoman with hearing and speech disabilities. The film was directed by Nachiket Samant and also featured Sikandar Kher, Chunky Panday, and Seema Pahwa.

Move into Multilingual Action Cinema

In August 2026, she appeared as Elizabeth in Geetu Mohandas’ large-scale Kannada and English action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups, starring Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.

She is also associated with Pooja Meri Jaan, starring Mrunal Thakur, which found a streaming home on ZEE5 after a lengthy delay.
