Meera Jasmine is an Indian film actress. She is 44 years old and was born on 15 February 1982 in Thiruvalla, Kerala, India.

Her birth name is Jasmine Mary Joseph. She works mainly in Malayalam films and has also acted in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada cinema.

Meera started her film career with the Malayalam movie Soothradharan (2001), which was her debut film. She later became known for her lead roles during the 2000s. One of her best-known performances is in Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam.

She won the National Film Award for Best Actress for this role (National Awards year: 2004).

Meera Jasmine was born as Jasmine Mary Joseph in Kuttapuzha village, Thiruvalla, in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district. She did not plan to become an actress when she was young. 

She wanted to continue her studies and become a doctor. She also said she did not act in school plays and never expected to work in films.  

Education

Meera studied at Bala Vihar and later at Marthoma Residential School in Thiruvalla.

After school, she enrolled for a B.Sc. in Zoology at Assumption College, Changanassery. 

She studied there for nearly three months before she was offered her first film role.

Meera Jasmine began her acting career in 2001 with the Malayalam film Soothradharan.

In 2002, she moved into Tamil cinema with Run, where she acted with R. Madhavan. She also appeared in Bala the same year. 

In 2003, her work expanded across Malayalam and Tamil films. In Malayalam, she acted in Kasthoorimann, Gramophone (with Dileep and Navya Nair), Swapnakkoodu (with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kunchako Boban, Jayasurya, and Bhavana), Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam, and Chakram. In Tamil, she appeared in Pudhiya Geethai, Anjaneya, and Joot. 

In 2004, she entered Telugu and Kannada cinema. She acted in Telugu films Ammayi Bagundi and Gudumba Shankar, and in Kannada she made her debut with Maurya (with Puneet Rajkumar). In Tamil, she appeared in Aayutha Ezhuthu. In Malayalam, she acted in Perumazhakkalam (with Kavya Madhavan). 

In 2005, she played the lead in the Malayalam film Achuvinte Amma. The same year, she acted in Telugu film Bhadra (with Ravi Teja) and Tamil films Kasthuri Maan and Sandakozhi. 

In 2006, she acted in the Malayalam film Rasathanthram with Mohanlal, and also appeared in the Tamil film Mercury Pookkal and the Telugu film Raraju.

In 2007, she continued across industries with Vinodayathra (Malayalam) and Ore Kadal (Malayalam), where she acted opposite Mammootty. She also appeared in Kannada film Arasu (with Puneet Rajkumar and Ramya) and Tamil films Thirumagan and Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram. In 2012, she acted in the Telugu film Aathi Narayana.

In 2014, she appeared in Tamil films Inga Enna Solluthu and Vingyani and acted in the Malayalam film Onnum Mindathe (with Jayaram). 

In 2015, she acted in the Malayalam film Ithinumappuram.

In 2016, she appeared in the Malayalam crime thriller Pathu Kalpanakal.

In 2018, she made a guest appearance as herself in the Malayalam film Poomaram. 

After a gap, she returned to a lead role in 2022 with the Malayalam film Makal, directed by Sathyan Anthikad, alongside Jayaram. 

In 2023, she appeared in the Malayalam film Queen Elizabeth. She also had a cameo in the Telugu film Vimanam. 

In 2024, she played the lead in the Malayalam film Paalum Pazhavum, which also stars Aswin Jose. She also acted in the Telugu film Swag in a dual role.
