Liza Fromer is a Canadian broadcast journalist, television host, and children’s book author. She is best known as the former co-host of The Morning Show on Global Television Network and Breakfast Television at Citytv in Toronto.

Liza was born on March 18, 1970 (56 years old), in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Early 1990s: Q107 Community Cruiser

While studying at Ryerson University, Fromer started her broadcasting journey by volunteering in the newsroom of Toronto rock station Q107. She also drove the station’s Community Cruiser, which gave her early on-air exposure.

2011 to 2016: The Morning Show on Global Television

On May 31, 2011, Global Television announced Fromer as the co-host of its new programme, The Morning Show. The show launched on October 11, 2011, with Fromer and Dave Gerry as co-hosts.

The launch team also included news anchor Kris Reyes from CityNews and weather anchor Daru Dhillon from CBC News. The program was initially titled The Morning Show with Liza Fromer.

In mid-2012, Dave Gerry and Daru Dhillon departed, and Kris Reyes moved up to co-host with Fromer. Antony Robart, a former ABC News reporter, joined as newsreader, and former MSNBC weathercaster Rosey Edeh came on as weather anchor.

On June 5, 2013, Global Toronto news anchor Leslie Roberts joined as co-host of the national edition of the show, working alongside Fromer until his resignation in January 2015. Jeff McArthur replaced Kris Reyes in May 2015, and Carolyn Mackenzie joined in June 2015.

On June 28, 2016, Global News announced that Fromer’s contract would not be renewed at the end of the month. Carolyn Mackenzie took her place on the national edition.

After leaving Global, Fromer worked as an MC, moderator, and keynote speaker with Key Note Speaker Canada. She also focused on writing children’s books and event hosting.
