Sarah MacDonald began working in Canadian TV news in the late 2000s.
Her early roles as a news anchor at Shaw TV Vancouver (2007 to 2008), followed by work at CTV News Vancouver as an assistant director (2008 to 2010).
She later moved to Toronto to work as a writer for CTV National News with Lisa LaFlamme (2010 to 2012), then she again returned to Vancouver to work as a reporter and writer (2012 to 2018).
In 2018, MacDonald joined Global News. Since then, she has been the weekend anchor of Global BC’s News Hour at 6 pm and Global News at 11 Weekend newscasts. Her on-air team includes Jordan Armstrong (anchor/reporter), Yvonne Schalle (meteorologist), Sophie Lui (anchor), and Barry Deley (sports anchor/reporter).
Along with anchoring, she reports for News Hour and Global National, and she also fills in as an anchor when needed.
