Most 7-year-old kids find it hard to understand simple maths and science, but there are some really smart kids out there. One of them is Akrit Pran Jaswal, a boy from Himachal Pradesh. He had surgery when he was just 7 years old and got called the ‘world’s youngest surgeon’.
When Akrit was only 10 months old, people noticed he was different. He was walking and talking early. By the time he was two, he could read and write. At 5, he was reading English classics. At 7, he surprised everyone by having surgery.
Akrit, from Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh, became famous for doing surgery on an 8-year-old who got burned. When he was 12, he became the youngest university student in the country. At 13, he had one of the highest IQs (146) for his age. Akrit became known worldwide after appearing on Oprah Winfrey’s famous talk show.
Since he was little, Akrit has been working at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. He’s focused on finding a cure for cancer. Considered a medical genius, he joined IIT Kanpur to study bioengineering. The Chairman of Secondary Education in Dharamshala supported and guided him. At 12, he joined Chandigarh University to study science. At 17, he was doing a master’s degree in applied chemistry.
