Satya Nadella is a very famous CEO from India who runs Microsoft, one of the biggest tech companies. Satya Nadella married Anupama Nadella when he was already allowed to live in the US permanently. But Anupama’s visa application was rejected, so they could only spend short periods together with tourist visas. To make it easier for Anupama to stay in the US, Satya Nadella gave up his green card and got a different visa.
Anupama, also called Anu, was born in New Delhi. Her father was an officer in India’s civil service. She studied architecture in Hyderabad and decided to focus on taking care of their children instead of working as an architect.
Anupama and Satya Nadella have three kids, but they faced a tragedy when their 26-year-old son Zain passed away in 2022. He had cerebral palsy, so Anupama has been working closely with a hospital in Seattle to help children with health problems.
She donated a large amount of money to help farmers and women in a district in Andhra Pradesh, India. She also gave money to the Prime Minister’s relief fund during the Covid-19 pandemic.
