Karthik Madhira, hailing from Hyderabad, showcased his cricketing talent at various levels, including Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19, as well as at the university level. Despite a successful cricketing journey, Karthik decided to take an unexpected turn towards a career in the IPS.

Before joining the IPS ranks in Maharashtra, Karthik earned a degree in Computer Science Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU). Reports indicate that personal reasons and an injury influenced his shift from cricket to civil services. Working in a job for six months during this period made him realize that his true passion lay in serving society through the civil services.

Karthik faced initial setbacks in the UPSC exams, experiencing failures in the first three attempts, including not clearing the preliminary exams. Undeterred, he persisted in his preparation, with a special focus on his optional subject, Sociology.

Taking a holistic approach, Karthik simultaneously prepared for both prelims and mains, emphasizing continuous revision and solving numerous test series. His strategic approach paid off, securing an impressive 103rd rank in the UPSC 2019 exam on his fourth attempt. Currently serving in the Maharashtra cadre, Karthik Madhira’s success underscores the importance of a comprehensive preparation strategy.

His dedication to revising content, solving multiple test series, and honing writing skills highlights the significance of a well-rounded preparation. Moreover, his focus on personality development played a crucial role in his victorious journey to becoming an IPS officer.
