Muddu Babu Shetty used to scare people in movies. He was a famous bad guy in Bollywood during the 70s and 80s. But his life didn’t start like that. He came from a simple background and tried different jobs before becoming famous in films.
He was born in 1931 in Mangalore and later moved to Mumbai. He worked as a waiter when he was young, then got into boxing and bodybuilding. His first movie job was teaching fight scenes in a film called Heer 1956. The next year, he appeared on screen for the first time in Tumsa Nahin Dekha. After that, he kept playing villain roles in many movies.
MB Shetty was in many hit films starting from Tumsa Nahin Dekha. He acted in more than 700 films in Hindi, Kannada, and other languages. He was in over 200 hit films, which is more than many heroes. His big movies included An Evening In Paris, Kalicharan, Trishul, Don, Kala Pani, etc. He did fewer movies in the 80s as he got older. He passed away in 1982 at the age of 51.
His son Rohit Shetty followed in his footsteps. Rohit also started working behind the scenes in movies, doing stunts and assisting directors. He directed his first movie, Zameen, and now he’s one of the most successful directors in Bollywood. Many of his films make more than Rs 300 crore at the box office.
