In a significant development in the financial world, Navneet Munot, who currently serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HDFC Asset Management, presides over a company with a substantial market capitalization of Rs 58,765 crore as of October 10, 2023. Munot’s illustrious career, which spans over three decades in the financial services sector, commenced in 1994 with the Aditya Birla Group, where he gained invaluable experience across various dimensions of the financial services industry.
In a strategic move, Munot assumed his present position at HDFC in February 2021, taking on a pivotal role in one of India’s leading asset management companies. His journey has been characterized by a trajectory of growth and expertise accumulation. Munot, a Chartered Accountant (CA), entered the global stage of finance by joining Morgan Stanley Investment Management in 2007, where he served as an Executive Director and took the helm of the multi-strategy boutique.
In 2008, Munot transitioned to SBI Funds Management Private Ltd, where he held the positions of Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer (CIO). As CIO, he held the critical responsibility of overseeing investments exceeding USD 150 billion, spanning diverse asset classes within mutual funds and segregated accounts. Furthermore, he assumed the role of a nominee director on the Board of SBI Pension Funds Private Limited, marking his influence on the pension fund industry.
Hailing from the vibrant state of Rajasthan, Munot is well-educated in the field of finance, holding a Master’s degree in Accountancy and Business Statistics. His professional qualifications also extend to being a charter holder of the CFA Institute and the CAIA Institute, and he possesses expertise in Financial Risk Management (FRM).
In a recent development, Munot was elected as the Chairman of the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), further solidifying his prominent position in the mutual fund industry. He is set to assume this role starting on October 16.
Notably, Munot currently chairs the Board of the Indian Association of Investment Professionals (CFA Society, India), showcasing his commitment to the advancement of investment professionals within the country.
