Addressing the recent events, Selena shared an Instagram story featuring her boyfriend Benny Blanco playing with kids and announced her social media hiatus with the caption, “I’m off social media for a while. I’m focusing on what matters.“
The Golden Globes video sparked speculation that Selena was gossiping about actor Timothee Chalamet and his girlfriend Kylie Jenner. Selena later clarified in the comments of an E! News post that she was discussing two friends who had hooked up and emphasized that it’s not anyone’s business.
Responding to the controversy, Timothee Chalamet assured in a viral video that there was no conflict between Selena and Kylie, saying, “We’re all good.” Fans had speculated that Selena asked Timothee for a selfie, and Kylie declined.
This isn’t the first time Selena has taken a social media break. In November 2023, she temporarily left Instagram, citing her disapproval of ongoing events related to the Israel-Palestine conflict. After receiving criticism for her comments, she returned to the platform a few days later.
