Sudha Murty, the renowned chairperson of Infosys Foundation, writer, and philanthropist, caught the attention of Twitter users in India following a viral interview where she discussed her food choices and restaurant preferences. In the YouTube interview titled ‘Khaane Mein Kya Hai,’ she revealed that she is a strict vegetarian and takes extra precautions while dining out.

“I am adventurous in my work, not in my food. I am actually quite cautious. As a pure vegetarian, I avoid consuming eggs or garlic. My main concern is the possibility of using the same spoon for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. It’s a constant worry for me! That’s why when we go out, I prefer to find vegetarian restaurants, or I carry a bag filled with ready-to-eat items that only require heating in water, like poha,” shared Sudha Murty during the interview.

One interesting reaction on Twitter was the posting of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s photo with various meat dishes, raising questions about whether he uses separate spoons for Sudha Murty, his mother-in-law.

In the interview, Sudha Murty admitted to being a foodie but not a skilled cook, attributing her husband Narayana Murthy’s consistent weight to her cooking skills. However, she does excel in making tea and poha.

“I have basic cooking skills. I can prepare parota, dal, subzi, rice, and sambar. We seldom dine out in hotels. I am capable of cooking simple dishes. Due to my busy schedule working outside, I never had the opportunity to learn elaborate cooking,” explained Murty during the interview.
