In the world of movies, there’s a trend of making films that appeal to audiences all over India. Bollywood actors release their movies in the South, and South Indian stars do the same in Bollywood. But in the past, only a few South Indian stars tried their luck in Bollywood, and one of the first was Vyjayanthimala.
She became famous for her acting and dancing skills in the 1950s. Her career reached great heights, but she also faced personal struggles.
Vyjayanthimala started her Bollywood journey in the 1950s after being a well-known name in South Indian cinema. Her beauty and talent quickly won over audiences, becoming the top choice for many big actors like Dilip Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, and Raj Kapoor. Rumors of her relationships with Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor began circulating during this time.
According to the media, their friendship soured because of Vyjayanthimala, who was allegedly involved with both men simultaneously. This caused tension, and Dilip Kumar even replaced her in some of his films, including ‘Ram Aur Shyam’.
Despite the ups and downs, Vyjayanthimala eventually married Raj Kapoor’s family doctor, Chamanlal Bali, whom she fell in love with during her treatment. After marriage, she retired from acting and moved to Chennai but completed some pending film commitments between 1968 and 1970. They have a son named Suchindra Bali.
